Charitable trust’s outdoor fitness sessions a huge hit 

Locals are springing into action since the launch of our outdoor group fitness programme.

We can reveal that since we re-introduced our popular outdoor programme, sessions have been fully booked and customers are asking for more.

We are gearing up for doors opening on our indoor facilities on April 26 in line with the latest Scottish Government COVID announcement and we are engaging with keen fitness class goers through social media to deliver extra classes.

The outdoor sessions are currently available at Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre, Duloch Leisure Centre and Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre and need to be booked online in advance.

 

The move comes as our 100 Mile Step Challenge came to an end at the weekend with 136 locals registering to take part. The virtual walk around our Fife-wide facilities has seen over £2,500 for our own Fife Health and Wellbeing Fund which supports the delivery of its award-winning health programme to local people living with long-term health conditions such as cancer, diabetes, dementia, cardiac incidents and COPD.  

Fiona Prendergast, wellbeing and programming manager for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “We have been really pleased with the reaction to our outdoor fitness programme – it’s hugely rewarding for our instructors to see how popular the sessions are and that participants are really enjoying them. We are constantly monitoring demand and will adjust our programme to suit customer need and feedback.

“Throughout the lockdown, the trust has worked hard to stay engaged with customers and has delivered free weekly online sessions so that people could stay active while our centres are closed. We are also very lucky that our fitness class goers are a very friendly bunch and there is a great sense of community which keeps everyone motivated. The outdoor sessions are the first step towards getting back to our usual offering and we can’t wait to see even more people getting active.”
